The Melbourne Market, a wholesale institution nearly as old as Victoria itself, is fundamental to Australia’s fresh produce industry. It provides the critical link between growers, wholesalers, and retailers in the fresh produce and flower supply chains.

The Melbourne Market and National Fl ower Centre operate from a modern, purpose - built facility in Epping. This location gives the market significant food handling and logistical advantages and provides traders with greater opportunities to export. Its success is due to leveraging the market’s state-of-the-art design and facilities to ensure it is a safe, clean and sustainable work environment while delivering a range of services to meet the needs of the fresh produce industry

Fruit & Vegetables

The fruit and vegetable market offers an abundance of fresh local and imported produce from both its Trading Floor and Buyers’ Walk. The Trading Floor is home to many of the market’s small to medium growers and wholesalers, with larger wholesalers generally operating from permanent stores on the Buyers’ Walk.

Buyers representing independent supermarkets, greengrocers, providores, hospitality businesses, aged care facilities, food processors and manufacturers source their produce directly from the Melbourne Market
